The most awaited SUV in India Mahindra Thar Armada or Mahindra 5 Door Thar is expected to launch in India in Aug 2024. The all-new Mahindra 5 Door Thar interior and exterior design will be different from the existing three-door variants, the SUV will have an upgraded interior with some premium features and new technology.
But one of the biggest questions remained unanswered what will be the price of a new 5 door Thar and what will be the engine specification of the SUV?
Mahindra 5 Door Thar Engine Specification
Our sources tell us that the all-new Mahindra Thar Armada or the 5 Door Thar will be equipped with 3 engine options:
- 2.0-litre mStallion four-cylinder petrol engine with 200 PS and 380 Nm.
- 2.2-litre mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine with 175 PS with 400 Nm.
- Additionally, the lower trim models will get a smaller engine with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 117 PS and 400 Nm.
The 1.5-litre entry-level engine will come with a 2WD option will help Mahindra to position the Mahindra Armada as the mid-size SUV which will directly be positioned against Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos. It is also been said that the 5 Door Thar will serve as the best-rugged alternative to the Scorpio N. Thar 5 door will be available in both 2WD and 4WD options and will also offer both manual and automatic transmission.
Mahindra 5 Door Thar Features
The all-new 5 door Thar will share the platform and component with Scorpio N. The all-new extended wheelbase and the all-new Mahindra Thar Armada will offer a roomier cabin than the existing Thar appealing to families while maintaining its off-road capabilities. The all-new 5-Door Thar will have a dual-tone dashboard and white upholstery enhancing the feel of comfort and spaciousness.
According to the available spy shots, the Armada Thar is expected to come with many features including:

- The driver and passenger front seats will be both electrically operated and ventilated.

The Mahindra 5-Door Thar Armada will also look slightly different from the front in comparison to the current Thar.
Mahindra 5 Door Thar Price
As mentioned the all-new Mahindra 5 door Thar will share its platform and powertrain options with the Scorpio N. This also hints that the price range for 5 Door Thar will be similar to the Scorpio N starting from Rs 16.64 Lakh to Rs 29.94 Lakh. However, the all-new 5 Door Thar will also be available with a 1.5-litre engine, hinting at affordable variants as well.
After considering the competition, features and engine specifications, Mahindra will keep the pricing of the 5 Door Thar very aggressively. We can expect to start the 2WD variant price of Thar Armada from 15 lakh whereas the 4WD variants could start from 19 lakh to 30 lakh depending on the variant and engine specifications.
The all-new Mahindra 5 Door Thar Armada will directly compete with the newly launched 5 Door Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
